Display Case for G-Wagon, User DIY Edition.

Previously, we designed two different display cases for the Mercedes-Benz G 500 PROFESSIONAL Line (LEGO set 42177 G-Wagon), which we named the Climber Edition and the Rock Edition. True to their names, both versions have very distinct styles.

Recently, we spotted an interesting “user remix” of our product on a design media platform. The display case they modified was the Rock Edition. When we originally designed this version, we used a simulated rock-texture base to create an off-road environment that would emphasize the rugged nature of the G 500. But our approach stopped at simulation.

This user took it a step further — by adding real soil and gravel to create a much more lifelike diorama. And, to be honest, it looks kind of awesome. (See photo below.)

This actually gave us some inspiration. In the past, we designed a jungle-themed display case for the Dinosaur Fossils: Tyrannosaurus rex (LEGO 76968). Now we’re thinking… maybe adding real dirt and growing live plants inside the case isn’t such a bad idea after all. 😄
