Building a Porsche “Mini Museum” in My Studio

As a designer who creates custom display cases for collectible toys and models, I’ve finally had the chance to build something special for myself—a dedicated showcase for my die-cast Porsche model car collection.

While reorganizing the studio, I set aside a space inside my display cabinet to house a miniature “Porsche Museum.” Inspired by our previous display case design for the Porsche 911 series—known as the Time Corridor—this new built-in display continues that concept with upgraded features.

The original Time Corridor was a fan favorite. It featured laser-cut acrylic silhouettes of various Porsche 911 generations, aligned chronologically to form a hollow, tunnel-like structure. It beautifully illustrated the evolution of the iconic 911.

This time, the new display—designed for 1:18 scale models—brings that idea into a built-in “box within a cabinet.” We’ve enhanced the structure with integrated LED lighting inside the acrylic corridor, highlighting the elegant lines of each car. Every slot includes a floating platform with hidden ambient lighting underneath, and of course, all lights are remotely controlled for convenience.

If you’re a Porsche enthusiast or a die-cast model collector, this display setup might just inspire your next project. Let’s take a closer look at how it turned out!

I switched to a different display arrangement and was pleasantly surprised by the result. A horizontal layout tends to work better in open spaces, creating a sense of continuity, while vertical stacking is ideal for smaller rooms, making it easier to appreciate each car individually.
